Supplements for Joint Health

You already know that what you put in your body plays an important role in your joint health. In addition to eating healthy, nutritious foods like colorful fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean forms of protein like fish, we recommend taking supplements. This will help round out your intake of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients to ensure you’re getting everything you need. But with so many supplements to choose from, it can be a bit overwhelming. To help make it easier, we’ve picked out some of our favorite supplements for joint health.

Schiff® Super Vitamin B Complex
Getting an adequate intake of B vitamins supports flexibility in the joints, which can help with your range of motion. Schiff® Super Vitamin B Complex contains a unique blend of B vitamins, including B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, folic acid, biotin, pantothenic acid, choline, inositol, PABA and L-methionine. In addition to being good for your joints, B vitamins support heart and brain health and also help the body to metabolize nutrients.

Schiff® Buffered Vitamin C 500 With Rose Hips
Your body needs Vitamin C in order to synthesize collagen, which is essential for healthy joints. Collagen gives structure to your cartilage, tendons, connective tissues and bones. By supplementing your intake of Vitamin C, you may be able to help prevent cartilage loss. And since Vitamin C is an antioxidant, it also helps to guard against damaging free radicals that can harm the joints. In addition to eating Vitamin C-rich foods like citrus fruits, we recommend supplementing with Schiff® Buffered Vitamin C 500 With Rose Hips, which is buffered to prevent stomach irritation.

Schiff® Vitamin D 2,000 IU
Vitamin D is essential for strong bones and muscles, which help to support and protect the joints, and it also supports joint health. But studies indicate that many people who suffer from joint problems are deficient in it. So how exactly does Vitamin D help? It guards against joint damage, supports healthy cartilage and aids in collagen production. And it also benefits heart health and immune function. Since this essential fat-soluble vitamin is found in very few foods, the best way to boost your Vitamin D levels is through sun exposure and supplements. Try to get about 15 minutes of sun a day and supplement with Schiff® Vitamin D 2,000 IU. It contains Vitamin D3, which is more powerful and more efficiently absorbed by the body than Vitamin D2.

Schiff® Vitamin E Complex 400 IU
In addition to helping to protect the joints from free radical damage, Vitamin E inhibits the enzymes that break down collagen and also aids in collagen repair. Some studies also suggest that a diet rich in Vitamin E may help to ease joint discomfort. In addition to eating Vitamin E-rich foods like nuts, seeds, whole grains and leafy greens, we recommend supplementing your intake with Schiff® Vitamin E Complex 400 IU.

Schiff® MegaRed® Omega-3 Krill Oil
Omega-3 fatty acids support joint health and flexibility while helping to prevent wear and tear. They may also help to ease discomfort and stiffness in the joints. To get your fill, eat more coldwater fish, nuts, seeds and leafy green vegetables. And for a concentrated source of omega-3s, supplement your diet with Schiff® MegaRed® Omega-3 Krill Oil. In addition to being good for your joints, just one small softgel a day also supports heart health.* Schiff® MegaRed® contains oil from pure Antarctic krill, tiny crustaceans that thrive in the frigid waters of the Antarctic. It provides an optimal combination of omega-3 fatty acids, phospholipids and critical antioxidants to support heart health, without any fishy smell or aftertaste.

Schiff® Move Free® Advanced
Glucosamine and Chondroitin occur naturally in healthy cartilage and are like the building blocks for healthy joints. Together they help to repair joints, strengthen cartilage and ease discomfort. If you suffer from joint problems, taking Schiff® Move Free® Advanced can help. In addition to Glucosamine and Chondroitin, it contains Joint Fluid and Uniflex® to replenish joints and protect them. While supplements that contain Glucosamine and Chondroitin alone can take up to four to six weeks to start working, Move Free® Advanced starts comforting sore joints in less than seven days.** And it’s clinically tested.

Be Proactive
Supplements are an important part of any joint health regimen. By exercising, eating right and making sure you get the right nutrients, you can help reduce joint discomfort and guard against future damage.
